ACARA Solutions and our client in Scottsdale, AZ have 2 contract to hire position 

CISCO Network Design Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CISCO Network Design Systems Engineer . The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in network design, implementation, and administration of Cisco-based infrastructure. This role requires strong experience in configuration , switches , firewalls , IOS updates , and access control lists , with preferred experience in virtual firewalls and Red Hat scripting .

• Hands on experience with:
  • Cisco network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Cisco IOS upgrades and maintenance
  • Access Control List (ACL) creation and management
  • Red Hat/Linux environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and implement secure and scalable Cisco network solutions in support of MUOS-related projects.
• Configure and manage Cisco switches , routers , and firewalls , including virtual firewalls .
• Perform regular updates and maintenance of Cisco IOS on all applicable devices.
• Develop and implement Access Control Lists (ACLs) to enforce security policies and network segmentation.
• Create and maintain network design documentation , implementation guides, and configuration records.
• Collaborate with systems engineering and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards and RMF frameworks.
• Assist in the scripting of network tasks using Red Hat Linux and other automation tools.
• Provide troubleshooting and escalation support for complex network and connectivity issues.
• Support the building and implementation of design documents , ensuring alignment with mission requirements.
• Experience in developing and implementing network design and configuration documents .
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with MUOS or similar DoD/military satellite communications systems.

(Nice to Have):

• Ability to read, update, and modify scripts (Bash, Python, etc.).
• Experience working with virtual firewall solutions (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet in virtualized environments).
• Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
• Security+ or CISSP certification.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of professional experience in Cisco network engineering and systems design.
• Preferred Skills: 

Ability to read, update, and modify scripts (Bash, Python, etc.).

• Experience working with virtual firewall solutions (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet in virtualized environments).
• Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
• Security+ or CISSP certification.
