Job Description

DUI & Criminal Defense Attorney About Us: At the Dohman Law Group, we are more than just a DUI defense firm — we’re a team dedicated to helping good people through hard times. We help people through some of the toughest moments of their lives, and we take pride in fighting for their freedom, their reputation, and their future. Through both litigation and negotiation, we fight to secure a fresh start for clients after being charged with DUI, traffic, or a criminal offense. While our name has been at the forefront of DUI and criminal defense for more than four decades, we continue to evolve as a rapidly growing, dynamic, and innovative DUI, traffic & criminal defense firm dedicated to providing personalized legal services to clients who are looking for a new path forward. Our firm has two primary offices – one in Rolling Meadows and one in Wheaton (DuPage County), and we serve clients throughout the entire Chicagoland area. About the Role We’re looking for a Criminal Defense Attorney to join our growing practice on-site in Rolling Meadows or Wheaton. This is a production-focused role, ideal for an attorney who wants to litigate, advocate, and deliver results without the pressure of business development. You’ll handle a steady caseload, represent clients in court, and work closely with experienced colleagues. Key Responsibilities • Handle misdemeanor and felony cases from start to finish. • Conduct client consultations and develop strategic defense plans. • Represent clients at hearings, motions, and trials. • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda. • Negotiate plea agreements and settlements. • Maintain strong communication with clients and ensure accurate documentation. • Meet billable hour and KPI targets as defined by the firm. Qualifications • Active Illinois Bar License (required). • 2+ years of experience in criminal law preferred. • Candidates from other legal fields with strong skills will also be considered. • Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills. • Excellent communication, research, and organization abilities. • Ability to work on-site at either the Rolling Meadows or Wheaton office. Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $85,000 – $115,000, depending on experience. Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) options, and a generous paid time off policy. An environment that promotes teamwork, mentorship, and career progression, including ongoing professional development. How to Apply: If you’re ready to make a real difference in people’s lives and take pride in standing up for what’s right, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities: • Represent clients facing DUI, criminal, and traffic offenses in DuPage and Cook counties. • Be comfortable conducting hearings and trials, engaging in negotiations with prosecutors, and participating in conferences with prosecutors and judges in court on a regular basis. • Provide compassionate guidance while maintaining strong advocacy in and out of court. • Maintain a client-first approach and ensure each case receives the attention it deserves to reach the best possible result for each client. • Manage a high-volume caseload with efficiency, ensuring deadlines are met and client communication remains a top priority. • Work collaboratively with our team of attorneys, legal assistants, and client engagement staff. Qualifications: • Must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and an active Illinois law license in good standing. • Minimum 1-3 years as a practicing attorney, with preferred experience in criminal defense or criminal prosecution. • Strong courtroom presence and excellent communication skills. • Strong skills in research, writing, and negotiation are essential. • Genuine desire to help people through difficult, life-changing situations. • Must be adaptable and able to respond quickly to changing circumstances. About Company: We help good people through tough times. At the Dohman Law Group, we fight every day to get clients’ lives back on track after a DUI, traffic, or criminal offense. We are a rapidly growing, dynamic, and innovative DUI, traffic & criminal defense firm dedicated to providing personalized legal services to clients who are looking for a new path forward. Our name has been at the forefront of DUI and criminal defense throughout the Chicagoland area for more than 45 years. We know the community, the law, and the court systems of the area. We have been recognized as leading DUI attorneys, both locally and nationally. While we take pride in the reputation we have built, our passion for helping clients is what sets us apart from other law firms.
