About Academy of Visual and Performing Arts
Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a 6-12th grade, tuition-free public charter school for students in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to provide a safe, challenging learning environment that cultivates our students’ academic and artistic excellence. We exist to ensure that all students are provided with equitable opportunities to Learn In The Arts and Learn Through The Arts.
Start Date: July 29, 2024
Type: Full-time position. Work hours are generally 8:15 am - 4:45 pm. Flexibility in the work schedule is expected due to the nature of working in a start-up environment. The schedule will be adjusted to accommodate after-hours assignments.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Assistant Principal - Academic, the English Language Arts and Reading Teacher ensures that the campus meets high standards of organizational and academic excellence with a strong focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes. As an Academy of Visual and Performing Arts teacher, core responsibilities, at a minimum, include:
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement written lesson plans that fulfill the curriculum and program requirements, including differentiation, scaffolds, and formative and summative assessments and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Provide instruction and appropriate learning experiences to students designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, learning activities, instructional materials, equipment, and technologies to build students' content knowledge and skills and to meet the diverse needs of assigned students.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).

Additionally, for this position, we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:
Bachelor’s degree required
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned (or accepted in an approved Alternative Certification Program) and have passed the required prerequisite examinations
English as a Second Language certification preferred
Ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of academic and artistic excellence
Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Successful criminal background check required

The salary for this role is based on the 2023-2024 Teacher Salary Schedule. AVPA is committed to internal pay equity throughout our organization.
