Job Title: Logistics and Inventory Manager

Company: Nightingale

Location: Richmond Va

Employment Type: Full Time

About Nightingale:

Nightingale is an ice cream sandwich manufacturer in Richmond Va. As our company continues to expand, we are undergoing a major transition—from relying on a third-party logistics provider to managing our own inventory of finished goods and fulfillment operations in-house. To support this strategic shift, we are seeking a Logistics and Inventory Manager to take ownership of our outgoing finished good processes, streamline operations, and ensure a seamless transition to full internal control.

Position Overview:

The Logistics and Inventory Manager will play a critical role in optimizing inventory management, coordinating shipments, implementing tracking systems, and ensuring compliance with food safety protocols. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the movement of finished goods, working closely with operations and the purchasing team managing inbound and outbound orders. A strong understanding of logistics processes, warehouse coordination, and inventory tracking systems will be essential for success in this role.

Additionally, this position will require implementing a digital inventory management system to enhance visibility, efficiency, and accuracy across the supply chain. The Logistics and Inventory Manager will work directly with the Warehouse Manager, together, they will be responsible for order picking and truck loading/unloading, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Transition: Lead and manage the transition from a third-party logistics provider to an internal fulfillment system, ensuring a smooth migration and operational continuity.
  • Finished Goods Inventory Management: Establish and maintain a digital inventory tracking system for finished goods, ensuring accurate stock levels and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) compliance.
  • Shipment Coordination: Schedule and oversee inbound and outbound shipments, working collaboratively with operations and purchasing teams to align deliveries and pickups effectively.
  • Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to Nightingale’s food safety program, upholding regulatory requirements for storage, handling, and transportation.
  • Lot Code Tracking: Implement and oversee a robust lot code tracking system, ensuring traceability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Temperature Monitoring: Verify that all incoming shipments meet temperature requirements, and ensure temp monitors are issued for every load to track conditions throughout transit.
  • Warehouse Collaboration: The Logistics and Inventory Manager will work directly with the Warehouse Manager, together, they will be responsible for order picking and truck loading/unloading, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Supplier & Carrier Coordination: Build relationships with vendors, carriers, and suppliers, negotiate contracts and optimize transportation strategies with the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize inventory processes and reduce waste.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to collaborate across departments and manage logistics operations.
  • Experience with digital inventory management systems, warehouse software, and shipment tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with temperature-controlled transportation and best practices in food safety logistics.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement.

Why Join Nightingale?

  • Be a key player in an exciting transition and make a significant impact on logistics operations.
  • Work with a dynamic and collaborative team committed to supply chain innovation.
  • Competitive salary, benefits package, and growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding company.
  • Hands-on role with leadership potential in shaping Nightingale’s logistics strategy.

If you have a passion for supply chain excellence and are eager to contribute to a high-growth environment, we would love to hear from you! Apply today and help drive Nightingale’s future success.
