Optomi in partnership with a liquid handling company is looking for a Project/Process Engineer to join their team! Projects span the full lifecycle—from initial process design through equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning. The team wears many hats and thrives on solving complex fluid handling and process challenges with practical, customer-focused engineering solutions

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

• Lead and manage 2–3 active process equipment projects, with oversight of up to 10 projects in various stages
• Participate in process and mechanical design using AutoCAD
• Size and specify pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and mixers
• Coordinate equipment purchasing and oversee logistics
• Manage installation and on-site commissioning of process systems
• Serve as the primary point of contact for daily customer communication and updates
• Work with control panel and automation teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Support the sales process with technical insights and site visits as needed
• Collaborate with in-house R&D to improve product and system performance

Qualifications of the Right Candidate:

Core Experience and Abilities:

• 3–10 years of mechanical or chemical engineering experience, ideally in capital projects or process systems
• Proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and customer expectations
• Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers
• Willingness and ability to travel (average ~25%, peaks up to 50%)

Core Technical Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with pump sizing, heat exchanger sizing, pipe/tank design, and liquid handling systems
• Hands-on experience with system commissioning, mechanical troubleshooting, and field work
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
• Background in sanitary process equipment (pharma, food/bev, etc.) is a strong plus
