Job Description

SoSimple Interactive is a website‐design and application‐development firm that helps its clients build exceptional, mobile-optimized websites and communication platforms. With over 20 years of design and coding experience, the firm emphasizes robust content management, scalability, self‐management, marketing and communications features for industries such as schools, AEC (architecture/engineering/construction), and other sectors.

Role Summary

As a Web Designer at SoSimple Interactive, you will be responsible for the visual design, user interface, user experience, and front‐end implementation of websites and web applications for our clients. You will collaborate with project managers, developers, and client stakeholders to ensure that design solutions are aligned with brand identity, usability standards, accessibility, and best practices. This role requires both design sensibility and technical awareness (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) to deliver high‐quality websites on schedule and to specification.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Work with clients and internal team to define design requirements, site architecture, branding, and functionality.

Produce wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, and final visual designs for websites and web applications.

Develop responsive front-end code (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and optionally frameworks such as React/Vue) or work closely with front-end developer to implement designs.

Ensure designs meet UX (user experience) best practices, web accessibility (WCAG) standards, and performance optimization.

Collaborate with content strategists, copywriters, SEO specialists, and back-end developers to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions.

Maintain and update design assets, style guides, pattern libraries and ensure consistency across projects.

Perform quality assurance testing of designs across multiple devices/browsers and rectify issues as necessary.

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and communicating effectively around timelines, feedback, and deliverables.

Stay current with design trends, technology updates, analytics, and industry best practices and propose enhancements to the team.

Provide revision rounds and iterate designs based on client feedback while guiding clients on best practices and design tradeoffs.

Contribute to pre-sales and proposals by providing design estimations, creative concept sketches, and portfolio case references.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Interaction Design, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience designing websites and user interfaces (agency or in-house).

Strong portfolio of responsive web design work demonstrating proficiency in visual design, layout, typography, and interactive components.

Excellent proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript fundamentals. Familiarity with front-end frameworks or CMS (content management systems) is a plus.

Strong understanding of UX principles, accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and cross-browser/device compatibility.

Experience working with design software such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.

Good communication skills, able to translate design decisions into business outcomes, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to manage time, priorities, feedback loops, and to deliver high-quality work under deadlines.

Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a remote or semi-remote environment.

Strong attention to detail, high standards of craftsmanship, and a growth mindset to learn new tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a digital agency or firm specializing in website design and CMS platforms.

Familiarity or experience with the SoSimple CMS platform or similar bespoke/flexible CMS tools. (Given the companys focus on its own platform, this is a plus.)

Experience with motion/interactive design, animation, or advanced front-end effects.

Understanding of conversion optimization, SEO friendly design, analytics, and digital marketing.

Experience in collaborating with developers (back-end/API) and working within agile project workflows.

Knowledge of branding systems, design systems, component‐based design, pattern libraries.

Experience mentoring junior designers or leading design efforts on a project.
