Will consider Research Data Analyst I

Under the general supervision of the Office Chief for the Office of Complete Streets Design, a Supervising Landscape Architect, and the direction of a Senior team member in the Office of Complete Streets Design, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of tasks including complex research and data analysis utilizing both tabular and spatial data. The incumbent will collaborate with the collection and cleaning of Complete Streets inventory and can perform, with supervision, research and analysis using geographic information systems (GIS) techniques and methodologies. With an intermediate level of knowledge, the incumbent will help with the development of communication products such as but not limited to verbal and digital presentations, diagrams, and maps. With direction, the incumbent can also study, analyze and develop conclusions based on the spatial analysis of various subjects related to Complete Streets.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent.

  1. Describe your understanding of, or interest in meeting Caltrans’ strategic safety, equity, climate, and prosperity goals, and experience in active transportation, complete streets, or multi-modal transportation.

  1. Discuss experience communicating your data analysis process, procedures, findings, and recommendations. How have you represented your work to parties inside and outside your area of expertise? Please provide examples.
  1. Describe your experience initiating and maintaining positive working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
